Iran is flexing it’s military muscle.
Over the weekend, the country announced that it had fired two long-range missile tests. The missiles were capable of hitting within 10-20 miles of the closest US military base.
The announcement came after 10 days of exercises in the Gulf, which included a test of shutting down the Strait of Hormuz, and a claim the country had created its first nuclear fuel rod.
A small but critical passageway, the Strait is used to transport over 40 percent of the world’s oil supply. Iran has threatened to close the Strait if sanctions are placed on its nuclear program.
As tension rises, the United States and Israel have not ruled out military action against Iran.

The Obamas at the Christ the Redeemer Statue on Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
As U.S. and British air strikes and cruise missiles pounded Muammar Gaddafi’s Tripoli palace, President Barack Obama was on a “sightseeing tour” of Rio de Janeiro’s iconic Christ the Redeemer hilltop statue.
He also visited Brazil’s famed City of God slum as the biggest military intervention in the Arab world since the Iraq invasion entered its second day.
“True to its internationalist instincts, the Obama administration would never contemplate an action that lacked U.N. approval, yet United Nations permission alone is inadequate. Sen. Richard Lugar, Indiana Republican, believes that the Congress should debate a declaration of war over intervening in Libya. But the White House has not sought even the type of congressional authorization for the use of force that President George W. Bush did before the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. It would be ironic to say the least if Mr. Obama waged war with less legal backing than his predecessor.” [Read more]
